LANCASTER COUNTY, PA – Ten years ago, shoppers were into hysterics over Tickle-Me Elmo – a fit-prone doll that was the most sought-after Christmas gift of 1996.
…The odds of hot Christmas toys finding a second life as a valuable commodity are long, says Rinker who writes a weekly column on collectibles.
“For a toy to become collectible, it has to have a least a good half-decade to a decade of popularity,†said Rinker, adding that Beanie Babies were both short-lived and more popular with parents than kids.”
