Million Dollar Movie Poster Auction

Filed under: — site admin @ 11:54 am

One of my favorite sites for vintage movie posters is Heritage Galleries. They recently completed another of their auctions, with superb results. This really shows the interest that’s out there for vintage film posters:

Heritage Movie Posters – recent auction

“Heritage Galleries Conducts First Million-Dollar Movie Poster Auction!

Summer 2005 Movie Preview – Part 3

Filed under: — site admin @ 11:35 am

Mr. and Mrs. SmithMr. and Mrs. Smith: Posters are hard to come by for this blockbuster but we’ve got them in stock now. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt star as secret paid assassins who are married to each other, and each is contracted to kill the other. Rumors have been flying for months that sparks flew between the two stars during production, and this led to the ultimate break-up of Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Nonetheless, the trailers look promising for the June 10th opening of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Madagascar: this summer’s other big CGI animated comedy is from Dreamworks SKG. Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett-Smith and David Schwimmer provide the voices of exotic animals that escape from a city zoo, only to get captured and mistakenly shipped to the Madagascar wilds en route to Africa. Your kids are going to want to see this one – Madagascar opens everywhere on May 27th.

Bewitched: Classic TV shows continue to provide the basis for Hollywood film adaptations as Bewitched becomes big-screen comedy. Nicole Kidman stars as the nose-twitching witch Samantha, along with Will Ferrell and Shirley Maclaine. Kidman has had mixed success in comedy roles in the past so expect the antics of Ferrell to determine whether this film is a hit or a miss. Bewitched opens in theatres on June 24th.

Chicken Little: this is Disney’s big family film for Summer 2005. CGI animation and comedy together, with Zach Braff, Garry Marshall, Joan Cusack, Steve Zahn and Don Knotts providing the character voices. Chicken Little picks up where the famous fable leaves off, after Little had mistakenly warned everyone that the sky is falling. However, this time the sky really is falling and Little is afraid to tell anyone about it this time. Chicken Little opens in theatres on July 1st.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: Johnny Depp stars in the big new remake of the treasured tale of Willy Wonka. Charlie, Violet, Augustus Gloop and the other golden ticket winning kids will also be there for the new tour through Wonka’s mysterious candy factory. Summertime is quickly approaching and that means that movie blockbuster time will also be here. The Summer 2005 movie season will unofficially kick-off with the upcoming May release of Star Wars Episode III.

This summer appears to have a very strong list of blockbuster flicks on the menu (and best of all – there is no Catwoman 2 on the release schedule!). To get you ready for your summer at the multiplex, MovieGoods provides a preview of some of the big films coming this season. …and they have posters, photos and other items available for all the movies listed below.

War of the WorldsWar of the Worlds: Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg and aliens – how can this not be a huge hit? The trailers for this film have been creating buzz since the Super Bowl, even though there have been no shots of aliens in any of the promos. Cruise stars as a single father trying to protect his daughter (Dakota Fanning) from a Martian invasion in New Jersey. Expect some outstanding special effects in this one. War of the Worlds opens on June 29th.

Kung Fu Hustle

Filed under: — site admin @ 9:56 pm

Kung Fu HustleFrom Sony Pictures Classics, Kung Fu Hustle is opening in theatres April 22, 2005, and has already opened in limited release on April 8th in Los Angeles and New York. The pre-release reviews are intriguing, and seem to be summed up by this quote from Nicholas Schager of filmcritic.com:

“…like an Asian Looney Tunes short…stretched to 90 minutes and blown up for the big screen…”

Look for a great escapist experience with a “hilarity and dementia”. I particulary like the Korean movie poster (shown here).

From PRWeb:

Kingdom of HeavenMuseum Replicas Acquires Ridley Scott’s Newest Film, “Kingdom of Heaven”

Museum Replicas Limited, the world’s leading manufacturer of historical swords, armor and period clothing is pleased to announce the release of The Kingdom of Heaven Collection.

Conyers, GA (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) March 23, 2005 — Museum Replicas Limited, the world’s leading manufacturer of historical swords, armor and period clothing is pleased to announce the release of The Kingdom of Heaven Collection. Based on the epic motion picture, “Kingdom of Heaven,” released through Twentieth Century Fox and directed by Ridley Scott, this line of licensed collectibles will include beautiful reproductions of the swords, helmets, armor, weapons, props and clothing seen in the film. Utilizing many of the actual props from the film, each collectible was expertly reproduced by the master craftsmen at Windlass Steelcrafts.

“All of the swords have high-carbon tempered blades, which are both perfectly balanced and battle worthy in every way,” says Dave Di Pietro, Director of Sales and Marketing. He adds, “Most reproductions based from movie swords are heavy, stainless steel wall hangers. Though they are nice to look at, these weighty pieces are usually not a faithful working counterpart of the screen used blades.”
