The first big sci-fi thriller of the year opened very strongly, as Underworld: Evolution took in about $27 million in its debut weekend. That was significantly higher than the $21.8 M Underworld opened with in September, 2003. Hoodwinked dropped to the runner-up spot in its second weekend by adding another $10 M, which was only a mild 11% dropoff from last weekend. The sports drama Glory Road finished third with $9 M, followed by $8 M for Last Holiday and $7 M for Brokeback Mountain. Elsewhere, Fun With Dick and Jane continues to become a solid hit as the comedy remake has quietly passed the magic $100 M mark.
