Trailer Park Boys: The Big Dirty

Well, this movie has generated the most comments we’ve ever had on any of our posts ( a whopping six), and they generally agree that we’re either full of crap our don’t know what we’re talking about – and they’re probably right. Hmmm, this poster says something about jail.

The official website at www.tpbmovie.com sort of confirms the synopsis as we first stated: “Kicked out from jail days before the guard/inmate ball hockey final, Ricky, Julian and Bubbles return to Sunnyvale trailer park with a plan for The Big Dirty, the largest heist of their long criminal history: a dimwitted scheme to steal vast quantities of change – since it’s untraceable.”

So, lets flog another poster while we’re wasting our time: a Trailer Park Boys DS 1 Sheet – Style C 2006 .

MTV’s big screen version of the small screen show, Jackass: Number Two was the first movie since August’s Talladega Nights to open above $20 million in what has been a fairly tepid period at the box office. Also with a solid debut was Jet Li’s Fearless, which pulled in over $10 million, which was on par with his previous picture, Unleashed.

The disappointments this week were Flyboys ( and I thought the plane fight sequences looked kind of cool) and All the King’s Men, with some critics citing Sean Penn as having an over the top performance which looked like an obvious ploy to snag an Oscar nomination.

The weekend’s top ten:

Grind House

Grind House refers to a downtown movie theater that has fallen into disrepair and is known for it’s “grinding out” of non-stop double bill B-Movies.

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez each direct a separate film within the film. Tarantino’s is a slasher flick called “Death Proof”, while Rodriguez helms “Planet Terror”.

The release date is set for April 6, 2007 from Dimension Films (The Weinstein Company).

Spider-Man 3

One of next year’s most anticipated films, Spider-Man 3 hits the theatres on May 4, 2007 from Columbia Pictures. Directed by Sam Raimi, and with a screenplay from Alvin Sargent (Spider-Man 2, Unfaithful), it’s guaranteed to be one of next spring’s blockbusters.

The past weekend at the box office was marginally better than previous one, which I guess isn’t saying too much. Gridiron Gang scored with first place, and all the other new releases ended up in the top five, which is kind of pitiful when you look at the numbers. The Black Dahlia, Everyone’s Hero (yet another computer animated movie – YACAM), and The Last Kiss failed to impress.

The bright spots at the box office continued to be The Illusionist which has pulled in $23.1 million in 31 days for the Yari Film Group, and Little Miss Sunshine which has grossed $46.4 million in 54 days for Fox Searchlight.

Duff girls get new movie together – this one opened on August 18, 2006 from MGM.

The release date for this animated flick distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures is November 17, 2006. Looks like some great voice talent lined up here.

Flyboys

We just caught one of the TV commercials for Flyboys tonight, and the immediate reaction was it looks like it has some potential – the WW I plane fight scenes are right out there. Sitting in the cockpit of an old fighter looked liked a very intense thing – kind of like running your bike into someone else’s, except at a couple of thousand feet in the air (and with guns). Boys will be boys.

..anyway,
