This new Ben Stiller comedy opens this summer on August 13, 2008. Stiller stars and directs this humorous tale of self-absorbed actors making the most expensive war film ever, but who end up involved in a real war without even knowing it. Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr. and Nick Nolte also star.

Black plays Jeff “Fats” Portnoy, an overweight gross-out comedian, who’s forced to kick his drug addiction while filming on location in the jungle. Downey Jr. plays Kirk Lazarus, the greatest actor of his generation and a four-time Oscar winner. Stiller plays Speedman.

The Dark Knight

It’s still early Sunday, but the box office estimates already have “The Dark Knight” pegged with over $155 million for it’s opening weekend, making it the biggest debut ever, and beating out the previous champ, “Spider-Man 3″ which opened with $151.1 million last year.

“The Dark Knight” also broke the new single and opening day records on Friday with $66.4 million.

“The Wackness” opens in limited release this week on July 3, 2008 from Sony Pictures Classics.

The movie synopsis: “It’s the summer of 1994, and the streets of New York are pulsing with hip-hop and wafting with the sweet aroma of marijuana – but change is in the air. The newly-inaugurated mayor, Rudy Giuliani, is beginning to implement his anti-fun initiatives against “crimes” like noisy portable radios, graffiti and public drunkenness. Set against this backdrop, Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck) spends his last summer before college selling dope throughout New York City, trading it with his shrink (Ben Kingsley) for therapy, while crushing on his step-daughter (Olivia Thirlby). Famke Janssen, Mary Kate Olsen,and Method Man round out the cast in this edgy, bittersweet, and funny coming of age story.”

The Wackness was awarded the Audience Award for Dramatic Film at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.

Camp Rock

Disney has scored again with their latest tween made-for-TV movie with “Camp Rock“. Two weekends ago on it’s network premiere on the Family Channel in Canada and on the Disney Channel in the United States, it became the second most-watched TV movie for Disney, behind only “High School Musical 2“.

Driven by the popularity of the Jonas Brothers, there are already talks of a sequel, with concert tours and album releases for the stars to follow.
