Ridley Scott’s “American Gangster” was the top box office draw last weekend, but it looks like “Bee Movie” will grab the top spot this week, given the lack of any serious contenders.

The new releases, Vince Vaughn’s “Fred Claus” and the star power behind “Lions for Lambs” (Robert Redford, Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep) weren’t enough to shift the standings and were in fact a little disappointing.

The Departed

Warner Bros. Pictures has a release set for October 6, 2006 for Martin Scorcese’s latest crime/drama: “The Departed is set in South Boston, where the state police force is waging war on organized crime.”

Could be one to watch for, with a strong cast and Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon playing opposing roles as moles on each side of the fence, in a race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself.
