“Whitman’s Marty McGovern didn’t go in for collecting baseball cards, or football mini-helmets, or even autographed hockey pucks.
Those are some of the more popular sports collectibles, but McGovern is a nationally known figure in a more esoteric field. He collects classic fishing lures, and has a multi-thousand dollar display he takes on the road year-round to assorted fishing shows, boat shows, and gatherings of like-minded outdoor sportsmen.
…”The most I ever paid for a single piece was $3,000 for a Creek Chub Giant Pikey,” McGovern noted. “It’s a two-piece, goldfish color lure that is extremely rare, and was in superb condition.”
