Online firearms auction proves successful foray

“SAN FRANCISCO – Greg Martin Auctions’ first foray into the world of Internet auctions would have to be considered a success after the company netted $2.47 million during its June 26-27 sale.
…Top lot among the sale was a Colt Whitneyville Walker Model 1847 percussion revolver, in exceptional condition and originality, selling for $238,350, while a fine cased Colt Paterson no. 2 belt model percussion revolver, brought $90,800. A historically significant deluxe engraved Navy Colt presented from Samuel Colt to Hugh Rose, a captain in the Confederate army, brought $181,600.”
I wish I had that kind of money to burn, I love the history of those firearms, but what a price tag!
