One of jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie’s trademark bent trumpets goes on the auction block today. The instrument, along with his 1975 Grammy, his record collection and handwritten sheet music, may raise more than $1 million.
Gillespie died of pancreatic cancer in 1993; his wife of 53 years, Lorraine, died last year. The sale will benefit the couple’s family, friends and charities.”
