“Treasure hunter John Brandon only had five great days of diving in a season that started late and ended early because of the record number of hurricanes and tropical storms. Many were anxious to learn how last year’s hurricanes Jeanne and Frances changed sand on the ocean’s floor near the remains of the famed 1715 Spanish fleet, which sank off the Treasure Coast.
Dune hunters last year found more than half a million dollars in coins, as well as a cross, a nine-emerald ring and chain within days of the two hurricanes. That led to high hopes about hunting at sea this year.”
