“NEW YORK CITY – Christie’s New York announced that its October 14 auction of fine musical instruments resulted in a world record for a price for a guitar with no celebrity association. The Gibson incorporated, a solid-body electric guitar, Les Paul model, Kalamazoo, Mich., 1959, was estimated to sell for $100,000 to 150,000 but the final hammer price (including the buyer’s premium) was $268,000.”
