“A unique portrait by Italian Old Master Titian, painted over and rediscovered more than 400 years later, failed to sell at auction in London today, despite attracting interest from around the world.
Auctioneer Christie’s said the painting was expected to fetch between $8.72 million and $14 million but did not reach its reserve price.”
