CALABASAS, Calif. — A photograph of Soviet film pioneer Sergei Eisenstein and a poster from an early Bette Davis movie (1938 film “Jezebel” – it sold for $70,000) commanded huge prices last week at the opening day of an auction of Hollywood memorabilia.
The photo of Eisenstein (it sold for $70,000), the silent movie director and film theorist, was taken by famed photographer Man Ray, said Joe Maddalena, president of Profiles in History, which put on the auction.
