Churchill landscape sets auction record

“A painting by Sir Winston Churchill sold for a record 612,800 pounds ($1.2 Million US) to an anonymous buyer at auction yesterday.

The previous auction record for a Churchill was 344,000 pounds , set last year. The former prime minister is considered no more than a competent amateur artist, but fascination for Churchill memorabilia has pushed up prices.”
