“The gross eBay sales from collectible-related auctions in the United States totaled $1.7 billion in 2003. This doesn’t include sports memorabilia, toys or movie collectibles. EBay claims that every hour, more than 10 Pez candy dispensers and more than 600 coins are sold.
But you have to watch out for online hucksters. If you’re searching for a vintage item, make sure it’s indeed vintage. Oodles of items sold on eBay, from cocktail wear to movie posters to concert T-shirts, are reproductions, and some sellers don’t always divulge that information.”
