Jun 1, 2005 | Auctions, Collectibles, Comic Books, eBay

BatmanCurrently, a seller is auctioning off a copy of Batman number one on eBay. With less than 4 days to go the bidding is standing at US $65,099.00 with the reserve having been met.

According to the seller:

Batman #1 (DC, 1940) CGC NM- 9.2. Off-White to White Pages

One of the most coveted comics of the Golden Age, this Batman #1 is the nicest known copy in existence. According to the CGC census, this book holds the number 1 ranking in the world!

A little background about the book:
This Batman #1 has been in my family since my father, as a young boy, walked to the local dime store and bought it.
…2005 Overstreet NM- 9.2 value = $140,000. Note: Comiclink.com has a Batman CGC 9.0 with an asking price of $285,000 and a bid of $205,000 currently.”

Let’s see where this one goes…

Added June 5: The people have spoken – the winning bid was $65, 199.00. Not much action in the final days of the bidding. It is worth noting that this was a CGC restored grade – a spline split had been fixed and the cover reinforced.
