“Miniature cars have been around a long time. I remember my little brother playing with Matchbox cars on a big felt street map my mother made, complete with roads, houses and stop signs. Flash forward four decades and now my grandson collects Hot Wheels; monster trucks and hot rods seem to catch his eye most often. Those little cars, found in the toy aisles of many retailers, usually come in what is called the 1:64 scale, which describes a model car that is about 1/64th the size of the full-sized vehicle. But let’s talk about die-cast for adults, a collectables market that has exploded into a multi-billion dollar industry over the last two decades.”
