“Was DropShop merely a mismanged chain of consignment shops for eBay auctions, or is there something more going on with this sector of the eBay economy? The DropShop chain in the Twin Cities area was shuttered this week, reports the St. Paul Pioneer Press.”
The Pioneer Press story suggests maybe too big, too fast:
“But competitors speculated that DropShop Midwest didn’t have enough inventory coming in the front door to justify the expenses of five stores plus a 3,500-square-foot central warehouse in Minnetonka.
“For them to go and make such a major commitment was not a smart move,” said Goldblatt, who said his store’s sales have doubled in the last month.”
