“It came as a sudden shock in the winter of 2001, when the Homer Laughlin China Co. decided to discontinue producing eight of its pieces. After compiling their purchasing statistics, HLC found that the octet didn’t have the same appeal as the others. As the collector’s tradition dictates, they are now highly sought-after pieces.”
