“Tidings of great joy have come to the University of Manitoba with the discovery that a Bible donated to one of its founding colleges more than a century ago is one of the first King James Bibles ever printed.
“The discovery is a nice Christmas present,” said Shelley Sweeney, head of archives and special collections at the university’s libraries.
Original first editions printed in 1611 in England have sold for more than $400,000 (U.S.) at recent auctions, but the university plans to hang onto its treasure.”
