James Joyce Love Letter Sells for Record $447,298 at Auction

“July 8 (Bloomberg) — A love letter written by James Joyce in 1909 to his wife Nora Barnacle, addressing her as “My darling little blackguard,” sold for 240,800 pounds ($447,298) at a London auction of literature this morning. That’s a record for any autograph letter of the 20th century, according to Sotheby’s spokeswoman Mitzi Mina.”
