1963 Grand Sport Corvette – Granddaddy of Collectibles

“Here’s what Terry Michaelis, of ProTeam Corvettes in Napoleon, Ohio, had to say:
“If money is no object, at the top of my Corvette list is the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport, of which only five were ever built. Next would be the 69 ZL1 all-aluminum 427 of which GM made only two, and then the 67 L88 427, which GM made just 20 of.”
Michaelis also adds the 1971 ZR2, an aluminum head 454 of which only 12 were ever built, and then the L88s from 1968 and 1969, of which 196 were built.”
Some of the prices mentioned:
“The last 1963 Grand Sport traded hands three years ago for $4.4 million, and you wouldn’t touch it today for less than $6 million.
…a 69 ZL1 all-aluminum 427 Corvette should fetch close to $4 million easy; and a 1967 L88 is in the $1.7 million and up range.
…’68-69 L88s are bringing between $350,000 to $750,000.
…1971 ZR2’s go for $350,000 to $650,000.”
