Last month, in August of 2005, Mastronet held an online auction of diverse items, which also included a selection of sports memorabilia.

Doug Allen, president of MastroNet, had this to say: “The Wayne Gretzky jersey and rookie card went through the roof,” said Allen. “Anything Gretzky has a tendency to do well but this was a phenomenal jump that is bound to impact the future sale of Gretzky items.”

The Gem Mint and Unique 1979/80 O-Pee-Chee #18 Wayne Gretzky Rookie Card sold for $53,084.00 plus a 17.5% buyers premium, while the Wayne Gretzky 1983/84 Edmonton Oilers Game Worn Jersey sold for $37,023.00 (plus 17.5%).
