Antique bottle collectors dig for shards of history

“BEAUFORT, S.C. – The best place to hunt for antique bottles in Beaufort is at the bottom of a privy hole. Or at least that’s what identical twins, fourth generation Beaufortonians and construction company owners Steve and Allen Patterson think.

The twins started collecting bottles and other relics of Beaufort history when they were in the sixth grade and have amassed more than 30,000 antique bottles.”
