Novelty figures enjoy a bounce in popularity

“They’re the original action figure, with their shaking, their nodding, their bobbing. Where once you could buy them for pocket change at garage sales, along with velvet paintings and portraits of sad-eyed kittens, today bobbleheads are a high-stakes collecting craze.
“Dolls that you used to be able to get for $50 or $100 are now in the several hundred to thousand dollar range,” says Lou Criscione, author of “Warman’s Bobbing Head Field Guide,” published in 2005 by KP Books. “There was a record set last year of one bobbing head that sold for over $15,000.”
