“LONDON (AFP) – The oldest surviving FA Cup was sold at auction for 478,400 pounds (879,780 dollars) – a world record price for an item of soccer memorabilia.

The cup, made in 1896 as a replacement for the stolen original, was bought by a telephone bidder at Christie’s in central London.”
