Islamic Art Sales Disappoint

“The mercurial nature of the Islamic art market was never so evident as in the latest week of sales held in London October 12 to 16. Last April Sheikh Saud al-Thani of Qatar spent over 15 million ($27.5 million) in a week, and even after this spending spree Oliver Watson, curator of the Museum of Islamic art in Doha being built to house the collection, admitted that beneath the trophies it remained thin compared with established museum collections. So would the Sheikh come back for more?”
