Collectibles: Car models are small but the business is big and still growing

“Model cars are big business — and getting bigger every day.
Just ask Dave Sinclair.
Mr. Sinclair, who operates Sinclair’s Mini-Auto, also known as Sinclair’s Auto Miniatures, made his mark selling 1/43rd-size scale models, the connoisseur’s scale. Although these pieces are fairly small, they can cost thousands of dollars apiece.
…”But there are still a limited number of companies such as Western, Brooklin and others that still produce hand-made cars, and when you want one of those, you’d better buy quickly because they sell out fast. If you missed out, you’re probably going to have to pay a collector big money to acquire your favorites.””
