“Harry Potter is magic! A Stellenbosch family who bought the first Harry Potter novel at a bargain bookstore 10 years ago for a measly R10 are on the verge of selling the rare edition copy for a whopping US $20,000 (R144 000).
Greer Salt was completely unaware of how valuable her copy of J K Rowling’s Harry Potter And the Philosopher’s Stone was.
The book, published in 1997, is believed to be one of only 300 copies of the first printing of the first book in the series. Auctioneer Paul Mills of AuctionExploreBooks.com said it was “extremely rare”.
I have a 1999 JAPANESE copy of Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone. Is it a first edition?
